Does Email Marketing work?

A lot of people say that Email marketing doesn’t work. Well, like most things it needs to have some thought put in to it but answer these questions from your own experiences:

  • Do you prioritise opening emails from people you know?
  • Do you open emails from organisations that you have bought from? E.g. Amazon?
  • Do you open emails that you know will have good content to help you do your job better? e.g. industry news?

I am going to make a good assumption that the answer is, yes.

Email marketing is still a great marketing tool, if you are producing an email campaign with these people in mind you are certainly going to be a lot more successful than those who have never had any interaction with you.

Email Marketing Plan

We would produce an email campaign plan which will detail a copy schedule, a delivery schedule (best date and time to send the campaign), the content topic and key points (this includes research into topics of interest, competitors etc). It will something like this (based on a client who does Wills and Trusts):

Email Template Design

Depending on your email marketing software, they may design a template for you or you can build your own.
We strongly recommend that you get one designed rather than having a go at it yourself. It would be far more efficient for you.
If you’d like one for Mailchimp or another system (depending on whether they allow an outside company to import a bespoke template), here is a price guide:

  • A standard template

These are designed to hold a single story, or a blog feed.

  • A newsletter style

Newsletter style templates are designed to have multiple stories and elements. The price for these will vary depending on the amount of content and custom graphics required on it. (This price is based on an average three story newsletter with a sidebar advert.)

*Price includes importing it in to your marketing software account.

 

Write, Send and Report on my email campaign

Following the email campaign plan;

  1. Mazzle will produce the copy, ensure that the email has the right content vs image ratio, check the links work, check that there is the right amount of content (e.g. not too long) and provide a subject line which will encourage it to be opened by the recipients
  2. Client will provide feedback/approval
  3. Mazzle will test it by sending it to all the major email domains to reduce the chance of it being caught in spam filters
  4. Mazzle will send.
  5. Mazzle will produce a report with people to contact for business.

Monthly cost per campaign: £195.00+VAT

 

Just tweak, send and report on my email campaign

Following the email campaign plan;

  1. Client will produce the copy

The best bit about Email Marketing…

The reports. Generally, the email marketing system you are using has some great reports which people don’t use. (If yours does not, stop using it and grab a free email marketing system like Mailchimp.)
The reports detail how many people opened your email, clicked on any links, unsubscribed and bounced.
The best bit is that this report details the email addresses that open, click, unsubscribe and bounce.

Okay, okay, I’ll break it down for you.

You have written about a new service and included a link for more information, 20 people click on it. You have their email addresses and hopefully on your spreadsheet / CRM you have their phone number…You can contact them, see how they are and mention this new service. Imagine how much more take up you would have rather than waiting them to contact you?
